Retro Con 2024 Weird Toy Contest
The Retro Con household has an unhealthy obsession with offbeat/quirky toys, and now we want to see YOUR weirdness! Come witness the strange, the bizarre, the unexpected… at the Retro Con 2024 Weird Toy Contest!
The contest will be held in the Panel room on Saturday at 12:15pm. No sign-ups are required, you can simply arrive for line-up with your toy just before contest start time. However, you must be present for the contest, so no “drop-offs”.
Your toy can be officially licensed, unlicensed, vintage, new, or even bootleg. Custom toys however will *not* be allowed in this contest. We also request that your toy be suitable for a family-oriented crowd. We reserve the right to decline any toy we feel is inappropriate for the contest (nudity, bodily functions, suggestive features, etc). So leave your Shape-shifter Punisher at home!
If your toy involves a gimmick you’d like to demonstrate, you’re welcome to do so. We’re also allowing “toy adjacent” items to be entered, which are those tie-in items associated with a toy line or brand, such as lunchboxes, gumball machines, electronic toothbrushes, model kits, pharmacy rack toys, and of course… a Gizmo Power Cycle as shown in our picture!
Top prize for the contest is a 12″ Mondo MOTU Skeletor figure! This is the retired “Timed” edition set that comes with a multitude of extra-added accessories like Battle and Dragon Blaster Armors, and currently sells for over $300 on the aftermarket! 2nd Place gets the new “Missing Link” Optimus Prime figure. Looks just like the Optimus you had as a kid, but with modern style poseability! And 3rd Place gets the new TFs/TMNT crossover transforming Turtle Van!
The contest will be co-hosted and judged this year by Mike from The Breaux Show AND our old friend Mr. Lobo from Cinema Insomnia! Come watch or participate in the fun!!
Super-Sized Trivia Contest at Retro Con 2024!
Even more contests!!
Win free stuff, and help clear up space in our basement and attic (where we have feelings of dread). Don’t miss the SUPER-SIZED Trivia Contest at Retro Con 2024!!
Hosted as always by our good friend Mike from the Breaux Show, we’re extending the contest to a FULL HOUR this year!! The contest is set for 11am on Sunday, and is free for all attendees to participate in. Simply visit the panel room during the event to play along!
We’ve got Transformers, Hot Wheels, Funko Pops, ReAction figures, video game related items, He-Man stuff, Star Wars, entirely too many plushies, and much much more!
We’ll reveal each item one at a time at the contest, then ask a trivia question related to it. After which we’ll randomly call on a person in the audience with their hand raised to answer. If they get it right, they win the prize on the spot. If not, we ask a different audience member until the prize is claimed. No Googling allowed!
So come join the fun, show off your geeky knowledge, and win cool stuff!! Don’t forget, Retro Con now has an actual panel room! It’s attached to our lead-in hallway.
Retro Con’s Truly Truly Truly Weird Karaoke Contest!
Cue the Fun Zone music! Next up on this year’s contest list is Retro Con’s “Truly Truly Truly Weird Karaoke Contest”!
To liven things up, we’re going to start giving the Karaoke contest specific themes, and this year we’re daring to be stupid and going all Weird Al!! We’ll have a nice selection of his parodies, as well as his original songs to choose from. We got it all on UHF!
The contest will be held early Sunday afternoon, tentative start time 1:30pm. Since contestant space is limited and we’ll need time to get the playlist ready, sign-ups will be required! Sign-ups will be at the Preregistrant table in our lead-in hallway around 11:15am on Sunday. Listen for an announcement over the speaker system. If interest is high, we might have to adopt a “lottery” system to pick our 15 contestants.
First Place this year wins the brand new in box NECA TMNT Turtle Van! A $250 retail value, and currently selling for $350+ on the aftermarket! We’ll have some great prizes for 2nd and 3rd place as well.
We’ll handle the retro, you bring the rock! A fun contest to compete in, and a fun contest to watch and cheer on from the audience! Check our website where we’ll be posting full contest rules and track list. Will someone be f̶o̶o̶l̶i̶s̶h̶ brave enough to attempt Hardware Store live??
A big thanks to our good friend Nagi for organizing and hosting the Karaoke contest as always!
The contest rules are as follows:

Meet Townsend Coleman at Retro Con 2024!

The voice of the turtle most likely to yell “COWABUNGA!!” during a martial arts melee is coming to the show! Please welcome the versatile Townsend Coleman to Retro Con 2024!!
Townsend’s biggest character is easily Michelangelo in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon from 1987! Known for being the fun loving, laid back, nunchuck (sometimes grappling hook) wielding “party dude” of the team, Townsend voiced the wildly popular character through a whopping 193 episodes of the original cartoon across its 9 year run on television! He would reprise the role in TMNT projects ever since, including tv series, specials, and video games featuring the ’87 version of the character!
“SPOON!!” Townsend also played the title character in the 1994 Saturday morning cartoon The Tick! Based on the popular comic created by cartoonist Ben Edlund and brought to TV by Sunbow Productions, the cartoon perfectly captured the comic’s quirky wit and satire through its three seasons on Fox Kids. Townsend also voiced Lava Man, Man-Eating Cow, and Eyebrows Mulligan on the show!
You can also hear Townsend on the fan-favorite 2008 series ‘Transformers: Animated’, where he voiced the arrogant “Autobot you love to hate” Sentinel Prime! He also played popular rocker Riot on the Jem cartoon, Scott Howard on CBS’s Teen Wolf cartoon (along side fellow Retro Con guest Don Most), Waldo on Where’s Waldo, Corporal Capeman on Inspector Gadget, Lord Darius in Mass Effect, Rewind on G1 Transformers, and Colt on ‘Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs’!
Meet Townsend Coleman at Retro Con 2024, September 7th & 8th in Oaks, PA!

Yoooo Joe! If anyone is qualified to take over Neil Ross’ spot on our guest list, it’s this man! Please welcome veteran voice actor Michael Bell to Retro Con 2024!
An actor of more than 50 years, one of Michael’s most popular characters is field commander Conrad “Duke” Hauser on the classic 80’s cartoon GI Joe: A Real American Hero by Marvel/Sunbow Productions! In addition to playing Duke, Michael also voiced Major Bludd, Scrap-Iron, Xamot, Clutch, Tollbooth, and Blowtorch on the show. He reprised his Duke role for the very last scene of GI Joe Renegades in 2010, and for a hilarious GI Joe parody episode of Community in 2014!
Michael was also a big part of the original Transformers cartoon, celebrating its astounding *40th Anniversary* this year! Michael voiced such well-known characters on the show as Prowl, Scrapper, Sideswipe, Bombshell, First Aid, and Swoop! “Me Swoop no see nothing!” He also reprised the characters of Sideswipe and Scrapper for the Transformers: Devastation video game in 2015, and Prowl for a recent 40th Anniversary re-recording of the very first episode of Transformers!
Other notable characters Michael voiced include Lance and Sven on Voltron, Zan, Gleek, and the Riddler on Super Friends, Drew Pickles and Chas Finster on Rugrats, the title character in Ruby-Spears’ Plastic Man cartoon, “The Fear” in Metal Gear Solid 3, Raziel in The Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver series, Handy, Lazy, and Grouchy on The Smurfs, Bruce Banner on The Incredible Hulk, Allstar Seaworthy on Snorks, Mark on Speed Buggy, Lawrence in the Ratchet & Clank series, and way too many more to list!
Michael also provided dubbing work on the original 1977 Star Wars, voicing General Willard on Yavin 4, and he overdubbed Peter Criss’ dialogue in the infamous TV movie ‘KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park’!

Please read concert details in full:
You DO NOT need to pre-register for (or even attend) Retro Con itself to buy tickets for the concert. But likewise, purchasing a concert ticket does not grant you access into Retro Con. These are separate events.
These are considered “Will Call” tickets, which means physical tickets will NOT be mailed to you (we will email you manually to let you know we received your purchase). Please bring along your ID or a print-out/screen cap of your Paypal transaction receipt. Our staff will use it to check you in at Arnold’s.
Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. However, in the unlikely event the concert is cancelled, full refunds will be given.
Please note you should enter through ‘The Water Tower’ entrance at Arnold’s Family Fun Center, which is just to the right of the main entrance at Arnold’s (look for the blue lower roof). Arnold’s itself is located directly next door to The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks.
The concert start time is 8pm, though you can arrive for concert check-in any time after 7pm. But feel free to get to Arnold’s Family Fun Center early! They have a numerous fun activities such as go-carts, mini golf, lasertag, arcade games, bowling, eats, and much more!
The concert will run about one hour and fifteen minutes. Maybe longer if you charge up the band with your positive energy!!
Attendees can purchase band-related t-shirts and other merch at the venue before the show if you want to watch the concert in style! Time permitting, the band will also be available for a meet/greet immediately after the concert. But to ensure you get the full band experience (and first crack at their merchandise), please come to Retro Con on Saturday morning!
Please note that this is a General Admission/Standing Room Only concert. This means that there will be no chairs in the main audience section, and there will be no assigned positions. The staff at Arnold’s will of course do their best to accommodate attendees with disabilities.
There is a full bar in the venue, where attendees 21 and older can purchase drinks.
There are no age restrictions at this event, though all ages require a concert ticket. We do not recommend bringing very young children to this event, as it is a rock concert played at full volume. Please also keep in mind the concert will be held in a bar setting.
We want to keep this event fun and safe for everyone! Anyone found to be disorderly will be asked to leave without refund.
If you need to make a name change on your ticket reservation, please drop us a line at screamers85@gmail.com!
We will NOT allow ticket scalping or hoarding of any kind! We compile the concert attendee list ourselves, and reserve the right to cancel any sale that raises red flags for us.
