**JUST ADDED!!**

We have a late addition to our guest line-up… please welcome voice actor Renae Jacobs to Retro Con 2022, September 24th & 25th in Oaks, PA!

Renae is best known as the voice of Channel 6’s ace reporter April O’Neil on the classic 80’s cartoon series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Known for her signature yellow jumpsuit and bold reporting style, April would sometimes get in over her head and end up kidnapped by Shredder and his flunkeys. But she’s also one of the turtles’ most trusted allies and saved their shells countless times throughout the series! April is one of the most popular and recognizable animated characters from the 80’s & 90’s. Come meet the voice behind the character at Retro Con 2022!

We want to thank Renae for agreeing to come to the show on such short notice! If you have a friend that’s a TMNT fan, please consider sharing this post to spread the word that Renae is coming to the Philadelphia area!

Retro Con Presents the Out Of Your Shell Karaoke Contest!!

July 26, 2019 Leave a comment

Always a crowd-pleaser, Retro Con’s Karaoke Contest will be back for Retro Con 2019! And this year we’re getting 100% more amphibian by christening it the Retro Con Out Of Your Shell Karaoke Contest!!

And helping us with that task is the voice of movie Michaelangelo himself, Robbie Rist!! Robbie is a lifelong musician and singer, and has very kindly agreed to be a guest judge at the contest this year!

Hosted once again by our good friend Nagi Oki, the Karaoke contest will be held on SUNDAY at the show (sign-up and competition times will *be determined soon*!). We will make an announcement over the PA system when we are ready to accept entrants. Depending how strong interest is, we may have to institute a lottery-type system to pick our 15 contestants. There are no sign-up fees or age restrictions.

We will have a wide variety of 80’s (and some early 90’s) classics to choose from. Most will have on-screen lyrics to follow along with, but we will also be supplementing these with a few geek-related favorites that will have a *lyrics sheet only*. Consider these “extra credit” choices!

The full list of song choices can be found HERE!

The contest rules are as follows:

#1. No staff or volunteers may enter.
#2. Singing in costume is allowed, but will not affect the judges’ scoring.
#3. No skits are allowed. Dancing in place however is just fine (and encouraged).
#4. Solo artists only, please. No duets/trios/etc.
#5. Songs will be picked on a first-come, first-served basis. Songs will not be held for specific contestants. Also, outside music will not be allowed.
#6. No instruments will be allowed.
#7. All contestants must arrive at the panel/event room *15 minutes* prior to showtime for check-in and singing order assignment. If you are not present at this time, you may have to forfeit your place.
#8. Please no heckling from the audience or other contestants. Anyone found to be disorderly will be asked to leave the panel area.

#9. You MUST rock.

Prizes for 2019!

1st Place: Full sealed set of NECA 7″ scale Turtles!

2nd Place: Mutagen Container Prop by NECA!

3rd Place: NECA Gamer Gremlin!

GamerGremlin1

So consider signing up and channeling your inner 80’s rocker! And if you don’t fancy yourself a singer, stop by and cheer on from the audience!! The contest is always a highlight of the convention!

A big thanks to Robbie Rist for agreeing to help judge the show! And also thanks to our friend Nagi for running and co-sponsoring the contest (and for making this snazzy graphic for this year)!

Meet Robbie Rist at Retro Con 2019!

“God, I love being a turtle!!!”

Please welcome actor Robbie Rist to Retro Con 2019!

An actor of more than 45 years, Robbie’s most prominent role is voicing the high-spirited Michaelangelo in the 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies! Playing the energetic character in all 3 movies, Robbie has some of the most quotable lines in the series. “Pizza dude’s got 30 seconds…”, “Ohh, a fellow ‘chucker, eh?”, and of course the classic “Wise man say: Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.”

Robbie also played genius teenager “Whiz” in the hit 80’s Saturday morning tv show Kidd Video! A hybrid of animation and live-action, Robbie not only voiced the character, but also acted in the live-action segments of the show, and performed the music videos with the rest of the main cast.

Other notable animation roles of Robbie include Choji Akimichi in the popular anime series Naruto, ‘Iggy’ in Initial D, sled dog Star in Balto, Stuffy in Doc McStuffins, Tricerashot in Transformers: Robots in Disguise, and (returning to the franchise) Mondo Gekko in 2012’s TMNT series. And of special note to Angry Video Game Nerd fans, Robbie voiced the “ET”-esque alien creature in the AVGN live-action movie!

Being an actor since he was 8 years old, Robbie can also be seen in live-action productions across 5 decades, such as the Brady Bunch (as Cousin Oliver), What’s Happening, The Bionic Woman, CHiPs, Knight Rider, Iron Eagle, and in Sharknado as Robbie the Bus Driver (he also co-wrote and performed the Sharknado theme song).

Robbie will be at the show both days, so catch him in the guest section on the show floor! He’ll also be part of a Q&A at the show (day and time to be determined soon).

Meet Cam Clarke at Retro Con 2016!

May 13, 2016 Leave a comment

This year we’re adding some serious Turtle Power to Retro Con with the inclusion of voice actor Cam Clarke to the show!

 photo CamHeadshotBorder.jpg

Cam Clarke is a prolific American voice actor and singer, well known for his work in animation and video games. He often voices teenagers and other similarly young characters. Cam began his acting career performing with his family on the musical variety show, The King Family.

He continued to perform with his family on various TV specials until the 1980s when he got his first voice acting roles in the animated shows Snorks and Robotech. Clarke was taught by established voice actor Michael Bell. To date, Clarke has voiced over one hundred titles. Cam is easily recognizable by his distinct voice which can fluctuate from adolescent sounding, to deep and soothing, to a faux British.

Cam’s most famous role is probably that of katana-toting leader of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Leonardo!

photo Leo1 2.jpg“Turtles fight with honor!!”

Being the most disciplined and cultured of the team, his turtle brothers would sometimes tease him for being too serious at times, but they also respected him as their leader (usually). Cam voiced the steadfast character in close to 200 episodes of the original TMNT series between 1987 and 1996!

 photo LeoComp4.jpg

Cam also voiced the dimwitted mutant Rocksteady on the show, who along with his best friend Bebop were Shredder’s chief underlings. They remained in the show for all 10 seasons.

 photo RockBebopComp2.jpg

Cam also played two prominent roles on Harmony Gold’s Robotech series: Ace pilot Max Sterling in the original “Macross” chapter of the show, and resistance soldier Lancer/singer Yellow Dancer in “The New Generation”.

 photo MaxLancerComp2.jpg

Another lead role Cam played was that of He-Man and Prince Adam in the 2002 relaunch of the Masters of the Universe series! Though the show and toy line were relatively short-lived, this iteration of MOTU still has a loyal fanbase to this day.

 photo Heman567.jpg

A popular villain role Cam played was Liquid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, genetic-twin and nemesis of Solid Snake. Cam played the character in Metal Gear Solid, MGS 2, and MSG: The Twin Snakes.

 photo LiquidSnake1.png

And a popular protagonist role of Cam’s was that of gang-leader Shotaro Kaneda in the english dub of the anime classic Akira!

 photo shotarokaneda12.jpg

Also, RPG fans may recognize Cam as the voice of such characters as Kratos Aurion in Tales of Symphonia, Ryudo in Grandia II, Will Raynard in Tales of Legendia, as well as the male Blood Elf in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade!

Cam will be on hand all weekend for autograph and photo ops. Prices will be listed on the website as we get closer to the event.

Go Green Machine!!

Voice Actor Pat Fraley to Attend Retro Con 2016!

In a rare convention appearance, we are thrilled to announce that Pat Fraley will be coming to Retro Con 2016!

 photo PatFraley1.jpg

A voice actor and voice-over teacher for more than 35 years, Pat is best known to retro fans for giving voice and personality to the quirky warlord Krang in the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tv series! Pat played the renegade from Dimension X in more than 125 episodes between 1987 to 1996, and he voiced the character more recently in an episode of Nickelodeon’s modern TMNT cartoon entitled “Trans-Dimensional Turtles” where the current Turtle team gets transported to another dimension and meets the 80’s iterations of themselves!

 photo Krang1b.jpg

 photo krang2b.jpg

Ultimately banished from Dimension X for his treachery, Krang reluctantly teamed up with the Shredder and his foot soldier army to renew his penchant for conquest on planet Earth. Together they would attempt to take over the world, and in the process restore power to Krang’s mobile command base the Technodrome for an eventual return to Dimension X. Unfortunately for them, their plans were foiled time and again by the Turtles and friends. Krang was easily one of the most amusing characters on the show and is a fan-favorite with his warbling voice, bizarre exosuit, and excitable personality.

 photo Krang5.jpg

Pat also voiced several other prominent characters on TMNT, including mad scientist Baxter Stockman, the Turtles’ vigilante ally Casey Jones, the palm-tree obsessed Slash, and Channel 6’s hard-nosed news editor Burne Thompson!

 photo TMNTcomp2.jpg

Aside from TMNT, Pat also voiced notable characters on Marvel/Sunbow’s popular GI Joe cartoon series: Ace, Wild Weasel, and Airtight!

 photo JoeComp2.jpg

And other prominent roles you’ve heard Pat in include BraveStarr, Denver the Last Dinosaur, Max Ray in Centurions, and Jake Kong Jr. on Filmation’s Ghostbusters!

 photo PatComp2.jpg

Pat will be at the show all weekend for autograph and photo ops. Prices will be determined and listed as we get closer to show time. So come out to Retro Con this September to meet the voice of some of the greatest characters from your youth!!

A big thanks to CelebWorx for their immense help in getting Mr. Fraley to the show!
