Meet Robbie Rist at Retro Con 2019!

July 10, 2019 Leave a comment

“God, I love being a turtle!!!”

Please welcome actor Robbie Rist to Retro Con 2019!

An actor of more than 45 years, Robbie’s most prominent role is voicing the high-spirited Michaelangelo in the 1990’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies! Playing the energetic character in all 3 movies, Robbie has some of the most quotable lines in the series. “Pizza dude’s got 30 seconds…”, “Ohh, a fellow ‘chucker, eh?”, and of course the classic “Wise man say: Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza.”

Robbie also played genius teenager “Whiz” in the hit 80’s Saturday morning tv show Kidd Video! A hybrid of animation and live-action, Robbie not only voiced the character, but also acted in the live-action segments of the show, and performed the music videos with the rest of the main cast.

Other notable animation roles of Robbie include Choji Akimichi in the popular anime series Naruto, ‘Iggy’ in Initial D, sled dog Star in Balto, Stuffy in Doc McStuffins, Tricerashot in Transformers: Robots in Disguise, and (returning to the franchise) Mondo Gekko in 2012’s TMNT series. And of special note to Angry Video Game Nerd fans, Robbie voiced the “ET”-esque alien creature in the AVGN live-action movie!

Being an actor since he was 8 years old, Robbie can also be seen in live-action productions across 5 decades, such as the Brady Bunch (as Cousin Oliver), What’s Happening, The Bionic Woman, CHiPs, Knight Rider, Iron Eagle, and in Sharknado as Robbie the Bus Driver (he also co-wrote and performed the Sharknado theme song).

Robbie will be at the show both days, so catch him in the guest section on the show floor! He’ll also be part of a Q&A at the show (day and time to be determined soon).

There is a separate room to the right of the stage where attendees can pay to play rounds of bowling while watching the concert on the venue’s large overhead screens. There is also a full bar in the venue, where attendees 21 and older can purchase drinks.

There are no age restrictions at this event, though all ages require a concert ticket. We do not recommend bringing very young children to this event, as it is a rock concert played at full volume. Please also keep in mind the concert will be held in a bar setting.

Dwight Schultz to Attend Retro Con 2017!

May 11, 2017 1 comment

We are thrilled to add actor Dwight Schultz to our guest list for Retro Con 2017! Dwight has two very popular roles in the retro realm.

DwightSchultz1

Most notably, Dwight played Captain H.M. “Howling Mad” Murdock in all 97 episodes of the hit 80’s TV series The A-Team! The seemingly insane former army captain was the A-Team’s resident pilot, and was a constant source of comic relief in every episode. His back and forth banter with B.A. Baracus (Mr. T) made for some of the funniest moments on the show!

MurdockAteam1

Dwight is also well known for a reoccurring role in the Star Trek universe: Lieutenant Reginald Barclay! The character started out with anxiety and social issues, along with an addiction to the Holodeck. But he eventually found his confidence and became an upstanding member of the crew, while still retaining his trademark quirkiness. Dwight played the role in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the First Contact theatrical film, and in Star Trek: Voyager.

In recent years Dwight has kept busy as a voice actor, with roles such as Dr. Animo on Ben 10, Mung on Chowder, and Wyrm on Nickelodeon’s current iteration of TMNT. Dwight also had the opportunity to revisit the character of H.M. Murdock by voicing the character in the recent LEGO Dimensions A-Team game!

Dwight Schultz will be at Retro Con all weekend for autograph and photo ops! Prices will be listed on the website as we get closer to show time.

The Million Dollar Man, Ted DiBiase, to Attend Retro Con 2016!

December 14, 2015 Leave a comment

Retro Con is pleased to bring a wrestling legend to the show in 2016: WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase!

 photo Ted-DiBiase83.jpg

Ted DiBiase is best known for his role as the villainous “Million Dollar Man” of the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE). Having been raised by his wrestler father, “Iron” Mike DiBiase, who he admired greatly, Ted chose to follow in his Dad’s footsteps and become a professional wrestler in 1975. Ted paid his dues in the early years of his wrestling career, traveling thousands of miles by car, spending many nights in less than luxurious hotels, and making little money. His big break came in the spring of 1987 when he headed for New York and the WWF to become the “Million Dollar Man”. It was from here that his career skyrocketed.

 “Every man has his price…”

Ted literally traveled the world with the WWF, wrestling in some of the biggest venues in the world. Places like Madison Square Garden, The Superdome, The Skydome, The Tokyo Dome, and Wembley Stadium, all became familiar places to Ted. After six years with the WWF, seeing his likeness made into action figures, characters in video games and his face on everything from T-shirts to pin-ball machines, he ended his active career at the end of 1993 due to a neck injury.

He then went on to be a ringside manager and commentator with the WWF from 1994 to the fall of 1996. During that time he managed such wrestling superstars as “Stone” Cold Steve Austin and Bam Bam Bigelow. Ted finished his career working for Ted Turner owned World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from the Fall of 1996 to the Fall of 1999, spending a total of twenty-five years in the industry. He was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in March of 2010!

 photo Ted8.jpg

Today, after authoring a book about his life entitled Every Man Has His Price, Ted is a full time evangelist and motivational speaker for the Heart of David Ministry. Officially ordained into the ministry, he is speaking to church congregations, youth groups, men’s meetings, corporate businesses, and in public schools and universities all over the world. In the past six years he has spoken to hundreds of thousands of people, young and old alike. In addition, Ted is also a spokesperson for and board member of The Sunshine Foundation. This organization grants wishes to terminally ill and handicapped children.

Ted will be at the show both Saturday and Sunday for autographs and photo opps. Prices will be listed as we draw closer to the event. A big thanks to Ted for agreeing to attend the show!
