The Cybertronic Spree Returns for Retro Con 2019!
They’ve been making waves across the internet again and again, and now’s your chance to catch them in person!
Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond Your Wildest Imagination.
They are…
The Cybertronic Spree!
More than meets the eye, The Cybertronic Spree are here on Earth with one critical mission: To party like it’s 1986! This band of Transformers has been brought together by the power of rock ‘n’ roll and they can’t be stopped.
Join Hotrod, Arcee, Rumble, Unicron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, Shockwave and a Quintesson as they prove they’ve got the power to light your darkest hour! These rockstars in disguise play music from The Transformers: The Movie, plus themes from hit films, cartoons, video games, and more. They blend their love for the 80’s and 80’s metal into an energon-fueled, unforgettable live show!
The Cybertronic Spree have been rocking conventions and events since 2013. They’ve captivated audiences across Canada and the US with performances at Anime North, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Toronto ComicCon, Nerd Noise Night, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Montreal Comic Con and opened for fellow space-rockers, TWRP, Electric 6, and Magic Sword, and (in their original US concert debut)… Retro Con!
New fans are discovering the “best kept secret” in bands every year as their popularity continues to grow. The band’s new cover of Led Zepplin’s “Immigrant Song” has had over 800,000 views on their Youtube page (and quickly climbing), and is currently being shared all over social media!
The Cybertronic Spree will be attending Retro Con early in the day on Saturday (September 14th) as convention guests, where fans can meet with them and purchase band-related merchandise. Tentative times are 10am to 1pm.
But of course we can’t stop there! The Cybertronic Spree will also be performing a concert that Saturday night (September 14th) at 8pm at the nearby Arnold’s Family Fun Center!

Meet Buck Rogers Star Gil Gerard at Retro Con 2019!
“The year is 1987, and NASA launches the last of America’s deep space probes. In a freak mishap, Ranger 3 and its pilot, Captain William ‘Buck’ Rogers, are blown out of their trajectory into an orbit which freezes his life support systems, and returns Buck Rogers to Earth FIVE HUNDRED years later…”
2019 marks the 40 year anniversary of the classic sci-fi tv series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and we’re happy to help celebrate the occasion by bringing its lead star to Retro Con: Actor Gil Gerard!
Gil starred in all 37 episodes of the hit series made by Universal Studios, which ran from 1979 to 1981 and still holds a devoted fanbase to this day. With reruns currently being shown on MeTV, viewers are discovering (and re-discovering) this sci-fi gem from a simpler time. We’re excited for this opportunity to bring Mr. Gerard to Retro Con!
Gil will be at the show both Saturday and Sunday for autograph and photo ops (prices will be listed as we get closer to show time). He’ll also have an on-site authentication rep at the show if you’re interested in getting your autograph certified.
Gil will also be selling a wide variety of Buck Rogers merchandise at his booth, including some very cool Buck Rogers commemorative pins and more. But why wait? Please check out the store on Gil’s main website to purchase merchandise right now! (click the store tab up top)

Meet the Voice of She-Ra, Melendy Britt, at Retro Con 2019!
Though we were saddened to announce her cancellation for our show last year, we are pleased to re-add her to our guest list for this year: Please welcome Melendy Britt to Retro Con 2019!!
Melendy is best known for giving voice to one of the most iconic and empowered female characters of the 1980’s:
She-Ra, Princess of Power!!
Adora was originally a captain in the army of the Horde, a sinister group that rules over planet Etheria. Adora later discovers she is the long lost twin sister of Prince Adam of Eternia (aka He-Man), having been kidnapped as a baby by the Horde’s leader Hordak.
Renouncing her allegiance to the Horde and now vowing to defend Etheria, Princess Adora is granted the Sword of Protection. This gains her the power to transform into… She-Ra!
“For the Honor of Grayskull… I am She-Ra!”
Melendy voiced the character of She-Ra/Princess Adora throughout the show’s entire 93 episode run, plus TV specials. She also voiced other characters on the show such as Castaspella, Mermista, Catra, Octavia, and more!
You may have heard Melendy in other cartoons as well, such as G1 Transformers, Plastic Man, The New Adventures of Batman, Flash Gordon, and Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Thank You From Retro Con!
Retro Con 2018 is in the books and we would like to express our utmost thanks to everyone that attended! We realize we don’t necessarily have the mainstream appeal of comic cons, or the party atmosphere of other conventions, but we like to think Retro Con attracts a very sincere and “grassroots” audience. We’re proud to host a convention where everyone checks their ego at the door and are there simply for their love of retro culture. We wouldn’t want it any other way.
We would like to thank all of our spirited attendees, our awesome vendors, all of our wonderful guests, everyone that helped add to the show’s atmoshere by dressing in costume, the press and news outlets that covered the show, the car owners and costume groups, the Cybertronic Spree for proving the sequel can be better than the original, everyone that helped run events in the panel area, the Game is Afoot Arcade, our A/V tech for the year Tom Dalton, Candice Santora for sponsoring Garry Chalk’s appearance, Arnold’s Family Fun Center, and the Greater Philly Expo Center for having us!
And of course our biggest thanks goes to our staff and volunteers! As usual, without them the show literally could not happen, and we appreciate their invaluable dedication and sacrifice every year.
Our staff and volunteers this year include Tom Jacobs, Wayne Kline, Greg Boyle, Anthony Kyzer, Chris Scheetz, Charles Piner, Nick Govosdian, Logan Moran, Mike Breaux, Tim Plakas, Dean Plakas, Mike Colasanti, Nate Kipphorn, Kyle Williamson, Kevin Jones, Erica Lindsey, Jim Cannon, Mike Townsend, Zach Townsend, Joe Fiore, Matt & Courtney March, Greg Hammaker, Trick Treat, Nagi Oki, Rob Brand, Leslie AuFancy, Wendy Wassmer, Brandon Wassmer, Jack Doud, TJ Becker, Gary Lane, Kristy Sproul, Denise Marie, and Candice Santora. You guys are the best!!
Once again, thank you to everyone that attended or supported the show!
Sincerely, Tony & Rose

Meet B.J. Ward at Retro Con 2018!
Although we are very saddened by the unfortunate cancellation of Melendy Britt, we have another very talented individual stepping up to take her place at the show: Actress B.J. Ward!
B.J. is an actress and singer known for several very popular characters in the retro realm. Two of her stand-out roles include fiery Counter Intelligence agent “Scarlett” on Marvel/Sunbow’s GI Joe cartoon series, and the noble Princess Allura on the original Voltron!
You may also have heard B.J. as Wonder Woman in the The Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians series from 1985, Small Foot on Challenge of the GoBots, the plotting Witch Haggar on Voltron, Sincia on Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs, Betty Rubble in various Flintstones productions from the 80’s to the early 2000’s, several characters on the original My Little Pony cartoon, and she also voiced brainy Velma Dinkley in several Scooby Doo animated movies from the late 90’s and early 2000’s!
B.J. does NOT attend many conventions these days, so don’t miss this rare chance to meet her!!
A big thank you to B.J. for agreeing to attend Retro Con on such short notice, and also a special thanks to the fine folks over at Celebworx for their exceptional work in making this appearance possible!
Check out B.J.’s huge body of work on imdb!

Guest Cancellation
It is with deep sadness we must report, that due to a recent non-life-threatening injury, Melendy Britt will no longer be able to join us for Retro Con 2018.
We know many of you were looking forward to meeting her, ourselves included, and for this we are truly sorry. But she must defer to her doctor’s orders. We wish Melendy a very speedy recovery!
If the stars align right, we promise to try to get Melendy the show next year. Again, we are extremely sorry for her cancellation.
But we have some good news as well- We have a pinch hitter stepping in to take over Melendy’s spot at the show! We will announce as soon as the contract is finalized, but she is new to our show and is the voice of two VERY notable characters!
Stay Tuned!!

Retro Con’s Totally Tubular T-Shirt Contest!
One of our favorite parts of putting on Retro Con is seeing all the unique retro-related T-shirts that attendees wear around the show floor… so this year we’ve decided to turn it into a brand new contest!
Hosted by our good friend Michael Breaux of The Breaux Show, Retro Con’s Totally Tubular T-shirt Contest will be held on Saturday at the show!
**Contest Rules**
1: No water will be involved. ;P
2. The contest is open to anyone at Retro Con wearing a t-shirt with a retro-oriented logo or print on it (early 90’s properties or older). Examples include: movies, cartoons, comics, tv shows, toy lines, company logos, mascots, music bands, and more!
3. There are no sign-ups needed. Interested contestant can line up outside of the panel area prior to the contest start time. (Start time to be determined soon!)
4. T-Shirts can be vintage, new, or custom-made. But bonus points will be given to t-shirts that are vintage or custom!
5. Only actual t-shirts can be entered. Sorry, sweatshirts, jackets, snuggies, jerseys, hoodies, long-sleeve shirts, etc., will NOT be allowed.
6. The Retro Con t-shirt contest is a family-friendly event! Tees with overly sexualized imagery or crude language will not be allowed. We must also insist that your t-shirt be reasonably sized to your body type.
7. We’ll allow a small group to enter as one contestant if they have t-shirts associated with each other.
8. The contest will be slated for about 30 minutes. Host Michael Breaux and friends will ask questions to the contestants on-hand, after which they will pick approximately 10 entrants to be finalists.
9. After our Finalists are picked, they will be asked to go to the front of the Panel area. An additional round of questions, along with some audience participation, will determine our 3 winners!
Examples of questions:
– How old is your shirt?
– Why did you pick this particular t-shirt to wear?
– Is there a special meaning behind the design/character/show/etc. to you?
-Is there an interesting story about how you got this shirt?
Winners will get the following…
