Free Play Arcade at Retro Con 2025!

April 11, 2025 Leave a comment

Ready Player One! Our corner arcade returns for Retro Con 2025!

This year our arcade will be sponsored by The Very Best restaurant in Pottstown PA, who will also be bringing in their own arcade cabinets and setting them to FREE PLAY! All their machines use real boards/hardware, but many also include a highscore feature that will keep a saved score even after power-off. So if you set a high score at the show, it will remain on the machine even after it’s been returned to their restaurant! Retro Con staffer Tony will be sad if you beat his Pac-Man score though…

If you live in the area, make a trip to Pottstown and stop by The Very Best for lunch! Established in 1921 and recently featured on Channel 6 Action News, Josh and his staff are super-friendly, the place has an awesome retro atmosphere, the food is delicious, and it’s affordably priced. Menu highlights include burgers, steaks, hoagies, sandwiches, fries, shakes, and of course their signature hot dogs (plain, chili, kraut, Texas Tommys, and more). And to top it all off… the place has a full pay-to-play arcade right in the back!

A huge THANK YOU to them for sponsoring the arcade this year! Check out their website and full menu here:

Retro Con 2025 Weekend Tickets Now Available!

March 27, 2025 Leave a comment

Weekend tickets are now available for Retro Con 2025!

Retro Con does things a bit different. If you can only come to the show on Saturday or Sunday, you can simply buy your ticket at the door on your day of choice. Day passes are just $20 either day, and kids 12 and under get in for free with paying adult. We’ll have multiple cash lines open for Saturday morning to help keep ahead of the initial crowd.

If you’d like to buy a weekend ticket however, they can be purchased in advance at the link below! Weekend passes are $33, with NO additional fees at check-out. A weekend ticket gets you a slick Retro Con attendee badge with lanyard, and we start letting in weekend ticket holders at 9am on Saturday (pre-check begins at 8:30am). This is an hour before General Admission begins, so consider this your “Earlybird” pass option! And again, kids 12 and under get into the show for free, and do not require a badge.

Buy your Retro Con 2025 Weekend tickets here:

retrocons.com/purchase-retro-con-tickets/

Can you buy a weekend ticket even if you only plan to attend the show one day? Absolutely! Some people buy the weekend pass simply for the badge and to get into the show early on Saturday. But we’ve got over 300 tables of shopping to check out, plus special guests, free-play arcade games, panels, contests, post-con activities, and a whole lot more. Well worth spending your entire weekend with us!

Meet Maurice LaMarche at Retro Con 2025!

March 21, 2025 Leave a comment

A special announcement from our news correspondent Morbo…

Please welcome the great Maurice LaMarche to our guest list for Retro Con 2025, September 6th & 7th in Oaks, Pennsylvania!

An Emmy award-winning voice actor of over 40 years in the business, Maurice’s versatility in the field is legendary, and if you were a cartoon watcher between the 80’s and today, you’ve no doubt heard dozens of his iconic voices!

He played classic characters such as Egon Spengler on the Real Ghostbusters (1986)! The eccentric PKE meter-toting genius of the team, Maurice voiced Egon for six years on the show, and would reprise the character in Extreme Ghostbusters (1997).

He also voiced a myriad of characters on Futurama, including Kif Kroker, Lrrr, Walt, Calculon, and sadistic news anchor Morbo the Annihilator! “Windmills do not work that way! Good night!”

And proving he can do it all, Maurice is the cool calculating voice of Mr. Freeze in the ‘Batman: Arkham’ series of video games.

Maurice is also a master impressionist, with hilarious takes on William Shatner, Rod Serling, and of course his iconic Orson Welles impression which was used on The Critic, The Simpsons, Futurama, and was the basis for one of his most popular animated roles…

The Brain! Maurice voiced the more devious half of the classic rodent pair ‘Pinky & the Brain’. First as a part of the Animaniacs series, and then in their own spin-off show in 1995. A truly timeless comedy series, the show celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year!

Are you pondering what we’re pondering? If you’ve been keeping up with our show announcements, you’ll know that Maurice joins fellow voice acting legend Rob Paulsen at Retro Con 2025. Which of course means… Pinky & the Brain reunion!! In addition to individual autographs and table photo ops at the show, we also plan to make available a pro photo op with both actors together. That’s right: Pinky… the Brain… and YOU!

Keep watching our pages, more great guest announcements to come! What are we going to do till then? Same thing we do every night… Try to take over the world!

Meet Bruce Boxleitner at Retro Con 2025!

“You’re very persistent, Tron!”
“I’m also better than you…”

He fights for the Users! Please welcome esteemed actor Bruce Boxleitner to Retro Con 2025, September 6th & 7th in Oaks, Pennsylvania!

Bruce is popularly known for his dual role as Tron and Alan Bradley in the classic 1982 Disney sci-fi movie… Tron! *cue fanfare music* It’s a role he would reprise in the 2010 ultramodern sequel Tron: Legacy, and voice in the 2003 video game Tron 2.0, the 2006 Square-Enix/Disney crossover game Kingdom Hearts II, 2010’s Tron: Evolution, and the criminally underrated Tron: Uprising animated series!

Bruce also played secret agent and charmer Lee “Scarecrow” Stetson in the hit 80’s adventure/comedy series Scarecrow and Mrs. King (co-starring Kate Jackson), and of course had a long-running role as Captain John Sheridan on the hit 90’s sci-fi series Babylon 5, created by the great J. Michael Straczynski!

You may also have seen Bruce on such series as Bring ‘Em Back Alive, How the West Was Won, The Gambler, Supergirl, The Outer Limits, Tales From the Crypt, Heroes, Chuck, NCIS, The Orville, and dozens more!

Meet the one and only Bruce Boxleitner this September at Retro Con! He’ll be participating in autographs, table photos, and pro photo ops (prices will be up on the website as we approach showtime). He’ll also be having a Q&A at the show.

More guest announcements to come, so stay connected to the Grid!

Meet Rob Paulsen at Retro Con 2025!

We’re kicking off our guest list with a returning favorite… please welcome to Retro Con 2025 the amazing talent of voice actor Rob Paulsen!!

With hundreds of acting credits over the course of four decades, it’s hard to pick one main character Rob voiced. He played resident wisecracker Raphael through all ten seasons of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon from 1987 to 1996, later voicing tech-head Donatello in the 2012 version of the TMNT series! On top of that, Rob was brought on to be voice director of 2018’s ‘Rise of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’, making him a major part of three official Turtle productions!

He also played zany fast-talking Yakko Warner on Animaniacs, as well as the Warner siblings’ stressed-out psychiatrist Dr. Otto Scratchansniff! Rob also voiced loveable dimwit Pinky on the hit show ‘Pinky & the Brain’, which celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year! Narf!

Rob has more action cartoon geek cred with voices such as Slingshot and Air Raid on G1 Transformers, and Snowjob and Tripwire on GI Joe! You can also hear him as Jack Fenton on Danny Phantom, Carl Wheezer on Jimmy Neutron, Starlight on Justice League, Major Glory on Dexter’s Lab, Arthur on The Tick, and the title characters on Mighty Max, The Mask, and Saber Rider. And that’s just for starters!

Catch the one and only Rob Paulsen at Retro Con 2025, September 6th & 7th in Oaks, PA! And stay tuned, more guest announcements coming soon!!

Check out Rob’s official website here!

Thank You From Retro Con!!

October 3, 2024 Leave a comment

Yeah we know, we’re always extremely lazy about the wrap-up posts. Cut us some slack, we’re a couple of aging geeks with regular jobs and we need our rest! 😛

Nearly a month late, but Thank You so much to everyone that came out to Retro Con 2024!! Even with conventions and toy shows cropping up all around us, along with all the craziness that comes along with an election year, and a health issue that kept one of us sidelined for a month or two, we’re still holding our own, and once again managed to beat our all-time attendance record!

And we feel like as the years go on, we’re moving further and further into “convention” territory. We only have the show as a once a year event because we want it to feel special. And while we always aspire to be humble and modest people, we’re also always glad to see so many people treating the show as a “not miss” event. We don’t get a lot of time to enjoy the show at large, so it’s always great to see everyone mingling with friends old and new, shopping the vendor floor, meeting the guests, playing the arcade games, dressing in costume, checking out the panels, and participating in the contests. But ultimately what makes a show fun and memorable comes down to what people bring to it.

Our thanks go out to all our attendees, vendors, guests, guest handlers, Press outlets, show sponsors, anyone that dressed in costume, our panel room A/V man Tom, panel room mods, the Cybertronic Spree, the tv/movie car owners, costume groups, Oaks Expo Center, anyone that supported and/or helped us promote throughout the year!

As always, our biggest thanks go out our staff and volunteers! They are getting too numerous to list here, but we want to let them all know how much we truly appreciate their massive help every year. From hall set-up and breakdown, to airport runs, floor work shifts, food runs, guest assistance, and even giving us help and guidance throughout the year. We can only plan out so much in advance when it comes to a convention, and our staff and volunteers are always willing to jump in to cover our backs when plans change. And we love them for it.

We haven’t made plans for a 2025 show yet, but we do hope to have one! So keep watching our pages. Thank you once again to everyone that attended or supported the show in any way!
